Monday

It has been a Monday for sure.  To start with the three kids were coughing through the night.
  • The middle was doing much better than he was compared to the last week and a half. A week ago Friday he was sledding and ran head on into a T-post. I heard the commotion before he got into the house.  When he got into the house he had blood streaming down his face and quite a hole in his forehead.  With applied pressure, the bleeding stopped almost immediately.  We called Papa over to consult on whether a trip to the ER was in order, but we concluded that it was not.  Head wounds are notorious bleeders, but not generally life threatening.  He's up to date on his tetanus.  Later that afternoon he was at it again.  Going down on the sled head first.  I took him in to school last Monday (this is when the cough started to emerge). This way I could explain to the teachers about the bandage on his head.
  •  The youngest fought sleeping all night long, partially because of this chest cold and also due to an emerging tooth.  The last few days she has also coughed enough to vomit on me three times.
  • The oldest went to school today with a cough, runny nose and sneezing.  Someone got it into his head that he has to have a perfect attendance this year.  The strong-willed bugger won't listen to his mom that he needs to stay home so that he doesn't get other people sick.  He still went to school, but as he was getting on the bus, someone ran the red light on the school bus. I try not to let it bother me, but that sort of thing puts me a foul mood directly.
  • I finally got Middle to eat some breakfast for the first time in a week and get on his bus.  Shortly after he left, Papa pushed the couple of inches of snow that fell over night, with his tractor.  I don't think he was back inside for more than five minutes, when it just dumped on us.  It looked like a blizzard out there.  I managed to get outside before middle got off the bus and shoveled a path.  Within a couple of hours we got 6-10 inches with more expected throughout the day.
  • Hubby had a rough start at work, 50 miles away.  In that town, they got 10 inches overnight.  He started the day pushing snow, and as it kept snowing, the day was called off.  He was home right around lunchtime, which threw the rest of the day out of whack.  He set to work pushing the snow around our house.  Papa pushed the snow a second time a few hours later.  It is supposed to keep snowing on us like this for several more days.
  • Oldest and I worked on Valentines for his class.  We got the idea from this site:  Danish Heart Basket
https://www.madeeveryday.com/2017/12/danish-heart-baskets.html/

He picked up on the weaving quickly and really enjoyed doing the work.

  • I bought a new-to-us bean bag on Saturday and Middle has claimed it.  So he took a nice afternoon nap in it the past two days.  It is so big and he sinks into it, it looks like he's in a cave.  A bear hibernating for this crazy winter.
So here's the tally:
1 baby teething, coughing, sneezing, barfing.
1 middle coughing with a hole in his head fighting with oldest over 1 bean bag and demanding 1 Paw                    Patrol band-aid on his head.
1 oldest coughing, sneezing, eating snot, instigating fights.
1 sleep deprived, PMS'ing mom, fighting to keep the illness from over coming her.
1 sleep deprived Dad shoveling 6-10 inches of snow all day.
2 newly purchased John Wayne movies
1 new pillow
10 boxes of 240 tissues each
2 newly discovered seasons of Duck Dynasty to binge
1 school bus runner
24 Basket weave Valentines
2 pizzas for dinner
3 loads of laundry
Too many hours on FB

I think it's time to go to bed.
